Hi

My son is getting into video-stuff, and have done the leap from iMovie to FCP-X :)

In some of the reviews of FCP-X I have raid, and in Marks and others comments, I have seen that people have had good use of "following the tutorials".

I have hjad the impression that this is an apple-supplied package, but is it?
(G, who haven't gone there yet)

For me, the hardest part of learning any GUI is getting a handle on the nomenclature. Back when I learned computers, everything was text-based, so you learned names first, then techniques, making it easy to at least formulate a question. Apple used to have a "Pro" series of books and tutorials, but that was back in FCP7 days. I don't know of any Apple-sponsored resources for FCPX (other than the discussion community).

That said, there are tutorials on the WolfCrow blog (http://wolfcrow.com/blog/how-to-imp...o-x-part-one-the-basics-and-project-settings/), Larry Jordan's website (http://www.larryjordan.biz/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/), many on Creative COW (http://library.creativecow.net/tutorials/fcpxtechnique), and of course, YouTube. When I need to learn something, dive into the manual to get the name of the thing I'm trying to understand, then I Google for that thing plus some description of what I'm trying to do.

If I had to guess, it would be the Larry Jordan's are the canonical tutorials, but I could be wrong. Lots of famous names (many on REDUSER) in the Creative COW community.

Larry Jordan and ripple training are both good. Ripple training might me a tad more suited to a younger person, Larry Jordan's voice is easy to listen to.

^^^ Speaking of REDUSER members who have published valuable FCPX materials on Creative COW...

What was said before, RippleTraining is certainly good.

My favorite at Lynda.com is from Ashley Kennedy

Another vote for Ripple Training. And maybe it's just me, but I can't stand listening to Larry Jordan for more than about 30 seconds. LOL

Ripple's first set of tutorials back in 2011 were awesome.

I havent touched one in the last two years (I teach it at local college) but there are some awesome specific ones that help with special workflows such as RED.

I teach all three NLEs and I find FCPX to be the easiest to learn if you are starting cold of course.
