1st of all, the red quicktimes plug ins are a bit hidden in the site.
What is the difference between those two (or 3) components?

is the FCP plugin the same as the medium Quality qt codec?

How many fps are you watching?

I think there is only one package now. I believe the main part is the Redcode Quicktime Component, which varies in size depending on the parameters of the proxie file it is reading. And then their may be other plugins for FCP that are specific to Redcode running in a timeline in realtime. This is a developing area, so for now just stay tuned.

Most people can see 1K proxies in realtime, 2K takes a hefty machine. I haven't seen it yet.

There are still 3 "REDCODE.QT.component" packages to choose from on the RED support site. There is the 1.2.0 medium quality which "is optimized for maximum frame rate playback", the 1.2.1 "grade quality" which "is optimized for maximum image quality", and the 1.5 which "supports RT playback and editing of the QuickTime Reference movies."

So it's not at all clear to me whether I should be using 1.2.1 or 1.5 when using RED Cine to generate DPX files.
