  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Final Cut Pro 10.6.7 Update Released

Thanks for posting Rand.

As a heads up I have read many reports of people having playback issues with this particular release.

Good idea to:
1) backup your project as FCP updates tend to update the project file making it hard to be read by earlier versions of the software.

2) zip compress or place the old version of FCP into another folder as backup just in case the new version has bugs that kill your workflow.

Youtuber Mathew O'Brien usually does a good job of going over this procedure whenever updates come out.

Will see what the fallout is but for now I'm personally steering clear as I'm in the middle of project.

Thanks Brian for the Heads Up!

Brian, how are you getting along with 10.6.8? How is the R3D performance? Anything else break as far as you can tell? I've been holding back on updates for a little while as I just feel performance has taken a hit in FCPX in recent years.

10.8 saved me...as an accidental auto update to .7 was the closest the software has ever been to unusable for me. I haven't tried R3d, but rock solid with a 4k prores raw timeline with 700 clips on it and thousands more in the library.

Hey Steve,

I'm still on 10.6.5 as I'm in the final stretch of a project and choosing to avoid any upgrade drama for now.

Stuart your response sounds promising. I have heard a few people mentioning that they were still experiencing some crashing even with 10.6.8.

There are people out there (myself included) that would be happy to beta test FCP to avoid issues like this.

Apple might consider making an internal audit and possible course corrections regarding QC, communications with the user base,
and perhaps providing a larger roadmap regarding FCP. We are professionals that use this software to make a living not hobbyists using the software for leisure. Apple would benefit from understanding this.

I think they have the resources. The question is do they have the will.
