  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 - Now with Apple ProRes 4444 XQ! Anyone know what that is?

Kudos to Apple for providing the community with excellent mezzanine codecs like ProRes444XQ. I can now create UHD/4K RGB clip based media at 200-250MB/s that offers near DPX quality without requiring insane amounts of fast expensive storage. Nice! The fly in the ointment would seem to be usefulness for anyone not on Macs. Presumably with the right software a Windows or Linux user could read and manipulate the files, but not author to it. Is Apple trying to retain market share by making the Mac a de-facto hardware dongle for ProRes deliverables?
