It'd be awesome in final cut if you could right click on a clip and have it open in Red Alert to generate a new proxy.. it would just be convenient...

or if there was just a way in final cut to adjust the settings like a red alert plug in... it would be pretty cool. so basically instead of using a 3way color corrector.. you could just affect the metadata..

just a thought... sorry if it's been posted before.

Hi Bthomas
your thoughts are well intended, how ever the proxy workflow is not the most dependable when you can just output to something that plays clean.

For example many of us are exporting or transfer and loggin in order to edit and not have to deal with render bars.
This is for the offline flow.
then we jump into say crimson or redrushes ect.

So proxy is cool but not a sweet way to edit if your doing anything intense

And Final cut is final cut by apple, they have purchased Final Touch for high end color correcting now called COLOR, a wonderful package included with FCP studio 2.
Look into color if you want power.
No need for 3 way color corrector.

And if you want to effect the metadata use RedCine or RedAlert.
FCP we hope is more concerned with making the R3D files work in Color and 4K to work well.
Not proxys to export out.

Hope that helps.

I think the point the original poster was getting at was a workflow similar to the active meta-data that cineform has. Ive heard that Cineform now has a red to cineform converter...Maybe you should have a look at that?
