Hey guys. I've got a locked cut of a film and need to take an EDL into REDCINE for export. What works and what dosen't?

Jon,

Crimson can take an XML from Final Cut through Redcine. You will need to break it down into small parts though as Redcine is limited to around 100 clips per session.

In my experience, Redcine can even be limited to half of that depending on the durations of your clips.

jon,

If you decide to use Crimson, run some tests with sequence sizes before going too far and you'll save yourself a lot of the same headaches I've had in the past. I say about 60 clips per outputted FCP XML to be on the safe side.

With that said, I don't know where I'd be without Crimson. :)

Hi Jon, Not sure if you were intending to use REDCINE just to export, and then grade with another app, but may I suggest Monkey Extract -it uses an EDL to render footage into DPX.
