We having spots rejected at DG when we edit with FC 7.0.2 and QT above 7.5.5.

We're on Leopard because Snow Leopard is breaking XSAN.

We've had to drop back to FC 6.0.5. We don't know if the problem is FC 7 or QT above 7.5.5 (required to run FC 7)

Anyone else having this problem? Solutions?

Thanks!

Leo

The spots play fine from computer to LCDs, but when going through their video cards to CRTs, the spots are torn looking, like gigantic aliasing; never seen anything like it. Only fix so far is to drop back to FC 6. We strongly suspect something wrong with QT, and we can't use lower QT with FC 7.

Add that to the prohibition from using Snow Leopard with XSAN, and it's not a eupeptic Apple day. I bought XSAN instead of cheaper systems because I was sure it would always be compatible with Apple hardware and software; unhappily I was wrong. On the plus side, it's been running 24/7 for years without a single failure.

Kaya, DG is a distribution company that sends spots to television stations.

Thanks all,

Leo

Leo,

There's something else systemically wrong. Possibly it's a Leopard versus SL issue. I work on multiple machines around town locally. Most are on the latest OS, QT and FCP versions and no such issues. Have you tried a total clean install using local storage? If so, do you get the same results?

Also, is this only from RED footage or does it happen with other formats? Any differences with various codecs?

We've narrowed this down to FC & QT; tried on multiple machines using multiple compressions, we get acceptable results only by dropping back from FC 7.

Greg, thank you for your post; would you consider allowing my engineers to talk to yours?

This problem is not exclusive to Red footage.

Thank you to all for your assistance.

Leo
