Hi there, I am fairly new to the RED world, I am currently working on a project where I need to stitch together multiple HD or RED files side by side but I am noticing FCP seems to have a 4096px limit. Is there any software (vegas, premiere, etc.) that has no project or export limits?

The whole Adobe suite CS4 can cope with 4096 pixel Red footage no problem, and the upcoming CS5 will have 10K support.... ;)

If you're stitching multiple 4k files together side by side... even After Effects will struggle with massive canvas sizes - technically its limit is 30,000 x 30,000 pixels, but since it loads whole frames into its buffer depending on your system it can start choking at much smaller dimensions...

Compositing apps that use a scanline renderer are better suited to really massive dimensions... Nuke comes to mind, but I'm sure there are others.

I'm curious what you would need such files for - they would be unmanageable for playback, even if displays capable existed. Larger matrix displays would be better fed by multiple sources feeding each HD segment.

If you plan to join them within a canvas so you can pan and scan around them with a final output at HD or even 4k, after effects would be your best choice based on the software choices you have already mentioned.

The video files are going to be played back on video walls fully capable of running past 4K.

Can after effects be used as a stand alone just like FCP? Or will I need to work with premiere as well?
