Hello,
I looked for a similar thread, but couldn't find one. I recently finished editing a feature that was supposed to be for a local release, on digital projectors, now some film festivals accepted the film and we are supposed to do a film out, now we have to do grading again. So I am looking for a way that I can render out log dpx's and then have edl imported to the grading application (Lustre), I know that this can be done with various tools, (Crimson, Monkey Extract),
but I can not figure out what to do with the clips that have speed changes or reframing, and plus I have some VFX's which are not it R3D format, (Animation).
How can I do the complete into DPX's, including retimed, reframed and replaced shots?

Hi Nodar , i just PM to Nigel Stanford ( Monkey Extract) , and
ask him to read thie post .
I found this whitepaper on red user for you .It is Autodesk Red
Workflow whitepaper .
http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/red_autodesk_whitepaper.pdf
Main question for me is PDLog685 VS RedLog for Graiding in Luster .
Looks like PDLOG685 is better choose , but as i understand it is depends
on footage .
Also about VFX . Did you work with 2k footage with VFX ? if yes
you must have your project with VFX with you .
Because after CC you must replace new DPX files in old project and
render it again. But you will have difference in colors.
Share more about VFX shoots .

When I mentioned vfx i probably used a wrong term, not a major effect, but in some shots there are matte paintings, (for a example a mark after slapping in a face after a fight in a room), nothing major, so what I meant how should I output those files? they are regular 2k animation codec files. Can monkey extract handle rendering files that are not in R3D format? Can it render out the mixed format timeline?
That was pretty much my original question.

Today I got a call from a post office from denmark, which is doing a film transfer for us, and they said that the graded test footage which I sent them looked ok on the film, it is kind of strange for me, as I did not use a good calibrated hd monitor for the grade, but anyways, I am gonna receive actual film print on monday, and will tell you how it worked out.
