Just to mention that i've work as DIT on film Monsieur Lazhar (nominee for best foreign film Oscar 2012) and it was shot on RedOne Mx, Redcode 42, 2.35 aspect with Cooke S4 set.

Offline editing was at Post-Moderne (http://www.post-moderne.com/). Color correction and film print at Vision Globale (CitéLab) (http://www.visionglobale.com/index.php).

This is an amazing film, shoot was fantastic and feel like a summer camp for all... Fantastic crew and great cast !

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think its the only film shot with a Red camera at the Oscar this year...

MONSIEUR LAZHAR (CANADA)
DIRECTOR: Philippe Falardeau
DP: Ronald Plante CSC
PRODUCERS: Luc Déry and Kim McCraw from Micro_Scope (http://www.micro-scope.ca/)

Albert Nobbs, Girl With Dragon Tattoo, Beginners, In Darkness, are all on RED, so Lazhar is in good company! Thanks for the info about it.

Yes, the trailer is great ! Congrats ! For once that there is an Arab man who's not a terrorist in an Anglo-Saxon movie ;-)

Don't want to be "fanboy", but RedOne with MX sensor, super35 possibilities, and tapeless (Redrive and CF) was the best tool over any camera at that time for that project... It make it simple to shoot with kids and basic lighting kit.

Etienne.

It has been released to DVD here. I shall have a look. Thanks for the advice.

Kristen.

There have been a few French language social dramas which have not demonised Arabic speaking people. One more recent had Omar Sharif in it. Are you old enough to remember "Madame Rosa"?

Furthur to above comments, I rented the DVD and I was impressed. It had a little more resonance for me perhaps in that at my high school way back in the sixties, one of our teachers took her own life, not in the school. She was the most beautiful of the bunch and one of the youngest. One day, she just wasn't there. It wasn't talked about much, certainly no formal announcement that I recall.
