  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Fiddling around with the Canon 5D...something occured to me.

I used to shoot alot of photos and videos with the Canon 5D. Lately only working with the Scarlet, and not shooting stills at all. So I picked up my 5D today and went out shooting some photos of my girlfriend. But when I came home, and started fiddling with the RAW files in Lightroom, the skin-tones where wrong. I fiddled with the WB and the TINT, but I kept getting either too much Magenta or too much Green. It never got quite right. Now I know my way around working with RAW, I've done it alot the past years. So I was kinda dumfunded. And when looking at my older work, I could see the same weird off-tone. Then it occurred to me, that maybe I've gotten used to working with Redgamma3 and Red, and I've just grown a more critical sense. It just looks so much better on the Scarlet, even though resolution is halved or whatever.

Is it really so, that this camera beats the regular DSLR when it comes to color-tones? Or is it me, who need to get some more training in skin-color? :)

Anyone noticed the same thing?

I haven't had this experience with my 5D mk 2 or 3. I can usually get the neutral color and clean skin tones that I want, but I agree great skin tone is one of the trickiest things to do in color grading.
