I know Jarrerd said the Komodo would always be S35 but....I think a full frame Komodo is coming soon. It makes sense as the Raptor X is too much money for most of the market at $30k. I bet they price the FFKX at $10k and drop the price of the S35 KX by at least 25%. With BM pricing the FF6K now at $1500 and the industry in wipe out status I think we will see even more price cuts across all companies.

Survive till 25

Personally, I don't understand the fascination for full-frame anythings. Isn't hitting focus hard enough with S35? What will become of all that wonderful old S35 glass?

I tend to be an S35 guy myself but I do recognize the merits of 35 FF particularly when needing a wider and expansive frame.

I'm not good at predicting what RED does but I could see a potential FF KX (or something in that price range) at some point in the future.

Until then there are some Speedbooster style adapter out there that already seem to perform quite well.

A part of me would kind of prefer RED really goes a step or 2 deeper into expanding and refining the feature set of the current cameras via firmware and enhancements to software like RED Control and RED Control PRO.

While there have been strides in the firmware they have been noticeably slower in releasing them than in previous years.

As other threads have pointed out there are some features from previous DSMC 1 & 2 cameras that have not yet fully crossed over to the current DSMC 3 line like slower shutter, frame summing & adding, among others.

Better AF anyone?

This is yet another 0.71 adapter option.

I have the Meike drop in filter EF mounts on Komodo and Komodo X and it works quite well.

Would be interesting to see if this new 0.71 mount has decent optical quality and if it does not interfere with the Komodo X’s internal flocking material the way the Canon 0.71 supposedly does.

I seems like that Meike locking adapter doesn't have an insert for anchoring to the baseplate (from what I could see). So good for KX but not OG.

Looks like a few places like FilmTools are selling off their demo KX's for $8k. Something new or price drops coming.

Good luck predicting what Nikon will do with RED. We all have our desires, which rarely line up with reality. For myself, having recently switched from Canon DSLR to Nikon Zf mirrorless (for stills), and having to return 2 camera bodies for faulty LCD screens, I am not impressed. But I am optimistic, still.

To be fair, they are taking over Red, who's record of issues out of the box might surpass any major supplier. Not that they don't take care of it.

I can't imagine how reliability would get worse being a Japanese owned company, vs "move fast and break shit" cali brahs. Hopefully they can meld those two concepts nicely.

I would enjoy a full frame komodo though, just upsize to 8k and wherever that lands size wise. Doesn't have to be 43mm wide. I've been looking to eek out every bit of performance in "mini-mode" and I love the top screen with Hasselblad viewfinders and the general small size and weight.
