It's been a very long time since this was first suggested for the RED.

It seems bizarre that I have to scroll through hundreds of clips sequentially on my RED to playback an earlier scene, especially when the camera has a joystick!!

Is thumbnail viewing for playback ever going to be a feature of the RED?

I second the motion.
At least put it in the DSMC's.
Cheers,
Harry

Even just a file list we could navigate and selelct from would suffice. Perhaps first step could be a simple click combination that would jump back or forward 5 clips.

I really like the thumbnails on my HVX200 - they've allowed me to quickly find and playback clips and even do on set dialog replacement, so if it's possible, I would love to have this on RED.

Playback has always been a little dodgy. But then again try playing back on a Arri, or panavision, or even most tape based cameras. It's one step up from that. I'd rather Red focus attention on some other details, and give me an excuse to keep hiring a VTR guy than let some other bugs bo by the wayside.

if your reloading the camera oftern, as you should, then you shouldent have much more then 20-30 clips to get through, most of the time, you just want to look at the last one. and to be honest i would want to discurrage playing back on the camera, and have a proper playback system, outhwise you cant be moving on to the next setup while make up or costume are checking everything is ok, slowing things down. I think however for the scarlet market this would be a good feature. as it is a much more flexable camera in what it dose, and the difrent uses it has.
