Hey guys,

I've been meaning to make a post about this for a while and since the film is coming out in less than 3 weeks, I figured now would be the best time! Last summer, I began production on my 3rd feature film, CONTRACTED. It tells the story of a troubled young girl who has a one night stand with a random stranger and contracts what she thinks is an STD, but is actually something much worse.

We shot the film in 15 days in Los Angeles on the EPIC with super speed lenses (I believe) and we've been playing festivals all around the world. A few months ago we were recently picked up for distribution by IFC Films and we'll be in theaters in NY/LA as well as VOD on Nov 22!

Below is the poster, some stills as well as the trailer for the film. We've been covered in major outlets like Entertainment Weekly and and LA Times. It's been a wild ride thus far and I hope you all will check out the movie when it comes out. I'd love to hear feeback on the film, the look of it and I'm open to any and all questions/comments! If you're in LA or NY, I'd be honored if you'd check out the film in theaters, or tell your friends to if you think it would interest them.

Thanks!

Congratulations! The stills look good and the story sounds intriguing. By the way, the youtube video says "not available". I would be very interested to know on details of the distribution that you negotiated with IFC. We are in development of our first feature and the distribution landscape is still a bit murky to us.

Sorry about that. It doesn't work in countries outside the US. I posted the Vimeo link. Try it now!

The distro was pretty standard, theatrical/VOD plus home video rights for a certain number of years with back-end splits, bonuses, minimum guarantee, etc.

Finally saw the trailer. Very well done!! I want to see it.

Very impressive have to watch this one and Im not much of a horror buff these days.

Can't wait to watch the film, Eric. Would have loved to make it out to Feartastic (a few of my Sixty Second Slasher shorts played there) and I heard nothing but good reactions about your film. Love the trailer, and I'm sure I'll have some technical questions once I get to see the full thing!

Congrats! Looks great. Cant wait to see it!

Excellent! Always good to see one of us break through! Best of luck with everything.

Matt,

I absolutely loved your shorts! Job very well done. My lady is actually from STL, so I head down there when I get the chance. I'll holler at you next time I'm down. LOVED the bloody girl at the bar short. Amazing, amazing work. Big fan :)

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! If any of you are in LA, please come out and see the film at the Downtown Independent starting Nov 22!

Congrats!

I love the genre, and i really loved the trailer.
Hope to see it soon in cinemas here in Italy, or in BD at the release!

Salud!

Hey guys, here's a list of theaters playing CONTRACTED across the country! If you, or anyone you know, is connected to a theater in your area and they're interested in playing CONTRACTED - please let me know and I'll send them to our distributor. They're looking to put the movie in more theaters!

And word of mouth support and sharing is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

If anyone has had a chance to see the film, would love your thoughts!

Still in theaters right now for Chicago, Detroit and Houston!

Eric,
I flat out loved this film. Seriously, I watch everything, B-movies, Indies... anything. And every once in awhile I find a diamond in the rough. Contracted was one of the few diamonds I have stumbled upon this year. I do happen to be your prime audience (I'm a horror director myself) in that I love plague / infection / virus movies whether it be WWZ or Cabin Fever. But that only means i have discerning taste when it comes to this genre, and I was impressed at how well you guys pulled this feature off.

I squirmed my way through the movie and loved every disgusting "sore" that grew on this poor woman's face.

Solid cinematography, acting, direction, score... I have no complaints or anything I would have done different.

Really great ending by the way, and there was one more little thing i wanted to have at the ending that i think would have made it a seriously epic...

but i won't spoil it for the others. :)

Suffice to say this was a really successful project for you and your team and I'd love to help on anything you do in the future.

Congrats and major props from me.

Matt, thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the film!

Hey Eric, finally got a chance to check out the film and I totally dug it! Was really looking forward to seeing more of that infection in action after watching the trailer and it did not disappoint! I loved the look of her eyes in particular towards the end, and you did a great job on making her body overall look legitimately disgusting. (Which I'm sure every actress loves to hear haha) She was great too, impressive and really believable performance. Also kudos for the hilariously epic Simon Barrett cameo. I always love those little horror writer / director cameos in things like this.

I'd love to hear anything you can share about the practical effects (those eyes!) in particular, and I definitely hope there's a Blu-ray release with a sweet commentary track coming sometime in the future...
