Film and Digital Times did a "jump start" thread showing the c300, Arri Studio, and RED Scarlet. Is an interesting comparison, and man I'm glad I went with the Scarlet ! I did learn from the article to push the user 1 & 2 button to eject the redmag (i was powering down). Actually from the spec's ... the scarlet beat's the Arrir Studio (ok ... ok ... Arri studio is Uber ... but if someone gave me a arri studio, i'd probably sell it for 6 scarlets ;)

yeah looks like it is in the current issue. I am tempted to subscribe anyway, looks like a good read. I want to read this article though, would you say the magazine is worth it Patrick? I love ASC and have in on ipad, this also has ipad versions which is great.

I like it ... of course I'm a ASC/BSC junkie ;) Sometimes the ASC's are a bit old fashioned(I whine about that every now and then), but it's interesting see the "sea" change to digital and I get a really good read on the movement to digital via ASC/BSC newsletters, etc. Most of the articles are top notch ... you can read all the old ones online for free too see if you like it.

Don't tell me You did not read the User Manual many times front-to-back while waiting for your Scarlet? ;o)
Just for the record you can also do it from the MEDIA menu, or the bottom right sys button on the side-handle (if you have one)...

Cheers for the link!

WHAT USER MANUAL ??? Scarlet just came in a box without any other material, just like my ipad! I swear my scarlet is easier to use then my ipad ;)

Paid for it-didn't see this post on time! Anyway, its a great magazine and worth the price of admission, for sure. No regrets! Would be good to see a comparison article about the 3 cameras there. Funny they used the Scarlet instead of the Epic, since the Epic is more in the Price range of the Alexa Studio... (then again, there's a Canon C300 in this, so maybe its the Alexa that's badly casted here)

Even though I push digital, I find for Cinematography mag's it's real nice to get the paper copy :) FDTimes kinda of stay away from direct comparisons, I kind of like that approach, in that really each camera is different, and cinematographer should pick the best camera for a specific job. Few years back you had to argue film vs digital, now, really you don't have to argue the point.
