Hey guys,

All 3 parts of my FCPX-RED Workflow articles have now been posted over at Moviemaker.com. Here's direct links to all 3:

Part 01: project prep - http://www.moviemaker.com/diy/movies-better-fcp-x-red-feature-film-workflow-part-1/
Part 02: Editing - http://www.moviemaker.com/diy/movie...-feature-film-workflow-part-2-by-sam-mestman/
Part 03: Finishing - http://www.moviemaker.com/diy/movies-better-final-cut-pro-xred-feature-film-workflow-part-3/

Also, if you want to see all this in action in a multiuser SAN environment, and you're going to be at NAB, come say hi at the Accusys booth (#SL15113), right next to the post pit.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Many thanks for sharing and all the effort and time to assemble these. incredible. Still on FCP7 but this makes FPX a bit less daunting, thank you!!

Thank you very much sam! You can not imagine how much time I have saved and will save thanks to you! I have abandoned FCP 7 and now running fully with FCP-X. BIG THANKS for sharing this with us!!

I only read the first part of the tutorial and think it's FANTASTIC. Will dig into the second and third now when you posted them. Great work.
Do you have any advice for setting up so you can work with the same event data on multiple computers? I'm going to try to have a syncing program sync multiple harddrives so I can work on 2 machines and directly from the drives and just keep syncing them.

Also have you figured out how to reduce the proxy size in Final Cut. It's a bit of a problem for me that they are half size which means 2.7k for my Red 5k footage. My proxies are taking 1tb storage for the film I'm working on and it would be neat to be able to put it on the internal Apple harddrive instead.

Best wishes!

Andreas,

Are you using proxies or optimized footage? We've been cutting with proxies which are TINY in size, and are 1920x1080 for RED footage (and 1/2 res for anything else). It makes for really fast transfers to mobile editing drives, and is easier on lower-end machines as well. Optimized files are gigantic 4444 clips which really isn't necessary if you're switching back to raw for finishing.
