I just got my Komodo this week and plan to shoot a lot this weekend. I'm curious on thoughts of FCPX or Resolve for editing. I've used Resolve a fair bit for my Sigma FP files as it seems to handle those best but I've been curious about playing with FCPX, I'll probably try it anyways just because of that curiosity.

I'm not working with a big team or anything at the moment- it's just me making my own personal art videos so no necessary consideration there. My current project involves lots of short clips of nature/landscapes that I'm cataloguing and eventually putting together somehow. I've heard that Final Cut may be good for that Catalog process. I remember at some point lots of people didn't like the Final Cut update and switched to premiere years ago but now it seems like lots of people have settled back into Final Cut. I tend to like Mac Apps and there way of doing things.

I'll be using a 2018 Mac Mini with EGPU that I may eventually swap to an M1 Mac Mini (still not sure if that's an upgrade or not! )

Would love to hear the thoughts of everyone here.

I use both.

FCPX is best for larger projects that need a lot of organising. It's ability to find single shots, through its keyword system is unmatched - outstanding. However, it is not so good on the export-front when, for example, you want to migrate to Protools. Then you need a third-party like X2-Pro or Resolve. Of course, Resolve is great to edit on, fantastic for colour and exports AAF to protools (with some errors). Horses for courses...

I tend to edit in FCPX and finish in Resolve.
