So not really sure what happened....but...

Someone wanted me to teach them FCPX tomorrow. So I watched some tutorials and tried getting the free trial. It worked and opened fine and then I figured I'd close it all down, do a restart and then get down to cutting on it to practice after clearing the cache and dumping the dmg file in my downloads folder. That is where everything went wrong...

I couldn't get it to boot, did a disk repair, verify, permission verify, nothing worked, did a format, fresh install through the cloud, took FOREVER...

all of that and it still won't boot up....Ten hours I tinkered on it (Apparently I have two Apple ID's and I was locked out of one which also took me a little time to sort through)

Even after all that, still hangs up on start up. No progress.

So I decided I would go online to watch some FCPX tutorials, no flash lmfao... Won't let me install it... Some days you just can't win lmfao...

So being out of options I guess I decided RU and FB would be my course of action (I have no tv so this computer is my entire home entertainment system essentially).

Beware of FCPX free trials folks. Also another weird thing is my apple care ran out a week ago exactly. Conspiracies I tell you... :001_unsure:

This is what I get for trying to use FCPX lol!!! Ugh I should of just gone to play with it at Apple store but I was thinking doing it from my home would be so much easier. It would be easy they said, magnetic timeline they said...ugh I am giving up and taking this in for a diagnostic lol!

Might help to know what Mac config. Is it on same machine with FCP Studio? Anything else unusual?

Does it occur to you, that instead of FUD, it may just be a coincidence that something is wrong with your computer?

Yes FCP7 is installed (or should I say was installed since now nothing is installed and even a fresh install on OSX lion isn't working). Yes it might just be a coincidence. Both have occured to me but regardless I am not getting much done now. I find it kind of amusing is all. But without a working flash player I am stuck reading tutorials now to prepare myself. Suppose I will drop the busted Mac off tomorrow and see whats up but I have to admit I am bummed a fresh install didn't get it going. Should of ran out to Apple store or a public library 11 hours ago...

Macs working again. No hardware problems. So I guess it really was the FCPX free trial that bricked my system. They ran a bunch of hardware tests, and had to reinstall the OS on their end, not sure why internet recovery didn't fix the problem when I wiped and did a fresh install myself. I am fairly tech savvy (aren't all redusers?) and I have no clue why my fresh install didn't work and theres did, must of been really corrupted quite a bit.

System specs: Core 2 duo Mac Mini 8gb ram stock hdd 160gb. I know this system is dated, but it works fine for my needs as far as my personal projects go, and the occasional couch editing job. I tend to use other peoples systems when I am on professional shoots, so I haven't bothered upgrading mine, I just use it for personal use and playback and am awaiting either a new Mac Pro or Haswell to come out before I throw money down on a new machine. I am downloading Avid MC6.5 now and will install Ppro CS5 later. Its nice to do a fresh install once in a while so I could care less about it being down, but hopefully you guys who keep media on your internal consider doing a back up before trying the free trial. All I have on my internals ever is easily replaceable apps, so its not a big deal when things like this happen to me, but most of the guys I know don't do this and really should consider keeping their media more organized generally speaking and on externals to prevent issues like this from creating potential media loss. So just a friendly warning on my experience.

Oh and the punch line is: I was only installing FCPX to teach someone it, when I showed up at his edit bay he didn't even have fcpx and I had to teach him iMovie 09. So this entire process was a waste of time (other then for cleaning up my own system... pretty funny stuff!
