This is my first post, I am from montreal and do not speak and write english perfectly .. sorry.
One of my friend will buy a red soon ( couple of month ) and we are currently looking for the post-production set-up. I read a lot on the forum before i register and post this thread, I took a look at both FCP and premiere bug and problem when working whit RED files.
First of all lets say that my budget for the cpu and monitor are 6000$can top max ! Even 5000 would be better. And lets take of 3000 for the 2 lcd screen and the HD reference monitor ( this one if you inerested to know ) left me to 2500-3000 max for the actual Tower
My question is, witch system works better when you are using red file, Premiere or final cut ?
With the fact that if I choose a Mac pro based system i will go whit FCP, but whit 2500 ... the mac pro that you get have only 630go and some really dispointing basic spec. But on the PC side, whit 2500$ you can build something pretty strong and heavy but you have to work whit premiere and vista ...
I dont have any preference betwen the two, since i dont try any of them whit RED files and workflow. I dont want to make the endless fight mac vs pc but just whit 2500-3000$max ... would you go on a basic mac pro quad core 4 gb ram and 630go space ... But whit FCP! or a killer pc whit premiere ...
This computor will only be used to work for post-production. I dont know, if you think that adobe cs4 is a endless problem system when you are working whit red ... I dont know ? do you ?
