Here is what He writes to me:
Dear Ketch,
We are trying to convert a preexisting FCP RED file edit to Avid MXF files so it can be recut with a different editor. We have to convert not only the current FCP cut but also, all the media (video and audio) and all the previous FCP edits and working time lines.
We seem to have two problems. When we autoduck the FCP, it appears to work but it will take weeks.
When we try to process the R3D files by transcoding them through Red Cine X, we get a time code discrepancy that prevents files from re-linking in the Autoducked AAF’s. One thing we noticed, is that the material originally inputted in to FCP incorrectly. We think this because the redcode clips seem to be using Edgecode timecode as opposed to TOD timecode. The clips that do have TOD code, appear to relink properly. Is there a way for Red cine x to force the edgecode timecodes in to the MXF files timecode meta date instead of the auxillary time code metadata? Alternatively, is there a way to reassign the redcode clips in final cut, to use TOD timecode across the board?
