When I use Log and Transfer in FCP Studio 3, FCP is creating what it seems to be copies of the R3D files in a quicktime wrapper onto my 'work' drive. Will these new files be used throughout the production process? For example, edit in FCP, grade in Color using send to color, then back again to FCP using send to FCP.

I guess the question in short would be, does the drive with all of the R3D files need to stay mounted? Or once Log and Transfer is complete, I can just use my 'work' drive to edit, color correct with the RED data for color temp, exposure etc.., and back again for output.

Thanks in advance,
Beau

Yes, you can use these new "native" Quicktimes thoughout post. They are self-contained files so you can disconnect the master drive with your R3Ds and continue to work.
