Hi all, I have some shots, including early build 16 footage, which I'm reviewing. My normal quick and dirty (but wonderful) method is to simply drag the _H proxies into FCP bins, then create a timeline based on that content for quick review.

With this batch of footage, however, all I get is either a green canvas window, sometimes flashing to what looks like a frame of the content or a FCP crash alleging the redcode.qt codec lost the plot...

This does not happen with all the footage, just some of it, and I am able to the shots which are a problem in FCP just fine in RedAlert/RedCine - and can open the proxies via QuickTime without crashes...

Anyone else having this problem?

Tony

Downgraded to v3.0 of the QT Codec and have pix again. Strange...

It's a known issue with FCP and the RED ONE generated reference files. We're looking into it with Apple. In the meantime regenerating the files in RED Alert! should fix the problem.

Hmmm that was my approach, weirdest thing is that sometimes regenerating the proxies introduces the old 'top half of the frame is not decoding'/fuzz which I've not seen for a while, and which does not appear in RA. The RT QT/FCP decode seems to get confused regardless of sequence settings.

Batch transcode of problem clips allows to to sign them off in the meantime

I think I might put this down to being older footage with an odd alpha build of B16 as it seems to be somewhat mag dependent. It's going to be a long week... on the upside the shots which are good are beautiful intervalometers of a small slice of NZ heaven... :)

Hi
just finished 3 days editing on a commercial spot, and the green screens popped in and out randomly. One day hardly saw them, one day it was hard to work.
Seems like we have to wait for more updates.

system
OSX 10.5.4
FCP 6.0.4
H proxies
Build 15
4K 2:1

It happens with clips that are spread over multiple R3D files which means longer shot time that exceeds 2GB file limit.

REDCINE reads it fine, so if you need to cut it, convert it from there.

I find that when you mix proxy files and converted files from REDCINE on FCP timeline.

QuickTime 7.4.5 combination handled better than the QT7.5. Since you have build15 clips, create another boot drive with older software versions and you won't get the green screen popup as much.

Also, if you are using extra video hardware to output to monitor, then lowering the video quality in the timeline leads to green screen popping up.
