  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FCP log & transfer NOT WORKING

I'm trying to get L&T to work with my r3d files and it will not import them at all.

Anyone else having the issue.

I'm on FCP 6.0.5, and have tried reinstalling the RED importer but no joy.

I select the folder with the 3RD file in but nothing gets added to the list.

Any ideas?
 
Did you install the RED QT codec as well?
You shouldn't select the folder with the R3D data in it ( it ends with .RDC) but the one above it, ending with .RDM !

Yeah I reinstalled the QT coded and still nothing.
Yes I've selected the .RDM folder and still it will not show up any items in the list.
 
just tried a reinstall of FCP and applied the updates and reinstalled the RED bits... Still no go...
 
Are the files not showing up at all or are they black? The latter is a bug and can be cured by resetting metadata in RA to default.
If they don't show at all, check permissions on your drives. Sorry, no further ideas, since it works here. One more thing: you are on Intel,are you?
 
Yes I'm using a Mac Pro 8 Core.
I'm on Mac OS 10.5.6 so am not sure if that is it.
I was on QT 7.6 but downgraded to QT 7.5.5 but that didn't fix it.
The files don't show at all. I select the folder and nothing shows up in the list.

I'm thinking its a 10.5.6 bug but am dreading having to reload my system to 10.5.5 to check.

Hopefully someone from RED can add some input here.
 
With my Mac Pros with all 10.5.5, 10.5.6 and QT 7.5.5 and 7.6 work fine with L&T.

Just a thought, you mention RED importer, but that is the wording for Adobe. Just checking but you need to install FCS installer.
 
It's not 10.5.6, I'm using it already.
 
right, keeping the originals in the original format, that's a must.
 
It sounds obvious but did you wait a bit? Sometimes it takes a bit prior to working. Import the rdm and wait almost 1 minute and see what happens.

I've got the Log & Transfer window open, it's got the RED option in the settings drop down (so I think it's installed correctly).

I click on the Folder with + icon on it (on the top left of the L&T window) I select the .RDM, and nothing happens.

I've tried dragging the .RDM to the "drag media files here" area, nothing.

I have yet to get anything to show up in the L&T list.

Select the RDM folder and go for a coffee.
It does take a lot longer than it should and thats why I was thinking it wasn't working.
 
I tried that and left if for at least 5 mins. To clarify, I'm selecting the RDM after clicking the little + Folder icon on the top left corner of the Log and Transfer Window right?
 
yes thats correct.

I left it for about 20 minutes, got busy doing something else.
When I came back it listed the clips in the window.

Not sure how slow it is but it is very slow.
 
I've had some SERIOUS hanging (spinning wheels) issues when using L&T with a RAID. As soon as I tried it directly from the RED Raid drive, it worked right away.
 
Just to add to this discussion, for the first time, we've encountered a very similar problem. We loaded all of our media to a RAID drive, went in to the L&T plugin, and when we added the media, nothing happened. I tried again and then I tried manually loading one clip at a time and got an error message that said was I using un-supported media! When I did the L&T straight from the RED drive, suddenly, presto, all of our clips were there and could be transferred. Has something changed with the L&T plugin?
 
Did you copy over the A00*****.RDM directory and the two digital Magazine profile files? If not it won't recognize the media.

By the way am I the only one who can't preview audio in the Log & Transfer window or is this just a given? There is no Preview on/off selection box like there is in log and capture.
 
Copied everything, still had the same problems, UNTIL I L&T'd from the Red drive.
