Am attempting to edit _M.mov proxies in FCP and can't get it to play back the clips without is saying Unrendered in the Canvas window.

What is the current workflow with getting QT proxies to play okay in FCP and do a edit?

Cheers
Rory

Make sure your RT setting is "Unlimited" with frame rate at "full" and quality at "dynamic"

Hi Eric, yeah I have those settings set.
I'm on a QuadCore 3.2Ghz MacPro with a super fast RAID and Quadro FX 5600 card.

Any ideas?

You should have no problem playing the proxies on that sort of setup. Check your sequence settings, be sure that the codec chosen is NOT redcode. Make it prores. That's the other big mistake made using proxies.

yeah checked that too and its set to ProRes4.4.4
I have the latest QT and FCP RED plugin's so am not sure why it will not play nicely

Does it display the picture when you are not playing it? I don't really know what else could be going on here...

yes it displays the picture when not playing it (stopped on a frame in the timeline)

Oddly enough setting my sequence to REDCODE fixes it and allows me to play the footage in the Canvas.

Man I wish RED would bring out a step by step on working with RED footage

ha! beats me... I've never had any issues with proxies, except for performance.
