My Friend is gonna post a problem we're all having with the Redcode Codec, please see the reply below (he can't start a thread for some reason)....

I'm running FCP 6.01 OS X 10.4.10 Intel Mac Book Pro 17" and a Mac Pro Quad

Redcodec will not work with FCP 6.
My setup below

OS 10.4.10
QT 7.2
FCP 6.0.1
using the hq version of QT redcode component

Any body elese have problems with it? The codec works great in Aftereffects and QT

Marc

I'm having the same issues, can't get the quicktime ref file to talk to FCP. tried in 5.1 as well. Any other camera owners having the same issues?

Evin said he transcoded to ProRes to cut his music video, Offhollywood are using Scratch. Don't know if anybody outside Red has said they have been cutting native Redcode in FCP. They didn't even have that working on the Apple booth at IBC. The Red tent was the only place they had a Redcode timeline. I think you may need to transcode for now, until the update arrives.

But this is just my speculation. As a camera owner can't you contact Red directly and ask them.

It works fine in FCP 6.0.1, QT 7.2, OSX 10.4.10. :-)

Start a blank timeline with whatever codec you like, I'm using DVCProHD 720P 23.98fps because I'm cutting Red footage with HVX200. Drag your Redcode reference QT directly onto the timeline.

FCP is only decoding Redcode, so there's no native Redcode timeline.

Escargot is there a rendring with this method and if there is how long does it take.

thanks.

What is not working exactly? Do you get an error? If so, what is that error? It's been working fine on FCP 5 & 6 for months now.

Reading the threads leads me to understand that most people are transcoding the redcode to pro res ect before cutting in FCP.

I can load the redcode codec into FCP and set up a timeline with it just fine. Even importing the ref. QT file in the timeline but only as a dark red clip in the canvas. Trying to play casues a crash of FCP. Tried it on many computers with no luck.

Marc: did you install the latest codec we sent out? That fixes a known crash with FCP.

If you did not get it, shoot me a private message on this forum with your name, camera serial and e-mail address and I'll get it to you.
