I apologize if this was discussed before. I gone through so many searches with advance search and also adding "site:reduser.net" to all my searches.

I am trying to take my low proxy edit from FCP 7 back out to RCX for its first run of color.

I can't seem to find a workflow that would allow me to export XML from FCP 7 and import to RCX successfully.

I have exported the XML from FCP 7 back to RCX but timeline sequence is not what was edited with its low-res proxies.

Is there anyone out there that could help me get my proper timeline back to RCX??

I'm new to this editing process so any links of a FCP 7 to RCX roundtrip workflow would be great.

Thanks for looking.

Also to add, I did NOT add any transitions, fades, or dissolves.

no overlapping pictures. Clean cut across the timeline.

anyone with any info is very much appreciated!!

David,

I think what was causing this issue was Edge vs. Absolute in the Export Options. I spent all morning trying different things and when I changed that, it worked flawlessly! Here is exactly how I achieved success:

1. Shoot Red
2. In RCXp, render all of your dailies into ProResLT or ProResProxy. Any size / any debayer.

-In FCP7-
3. Edit, keeping track of your speed changes, reversing clips, and transitions
4. Duplicate your picture locked timeline and begin to 'condense' it all down to one video track, removing any effects, speed changes, and transitions. One simple track of just edits.
5. Set your in and out points and export an XML using the following settings: XML Version 4, No: Include Master Clips, Yes: Save project with latest... Save XML to Desktop.

-In RCXp 13-
6. File -> Import
7. Locate your original R3D directory, under EDL select your FPS, TimeCode: Absolute, Destination: Timeline, yes: replace with slug, Source Out: Inclusive, Yes:Prompt on Import.
8. This will rebuild your FCP7 timeline in RCXp using the original R3Ds. Apply your grade.
9. Export using 'Timeline (separate clips) with the following settings:
-Format-
-Quicktime ProRes4444 - Setup - FrameRate Override: Clip FrameRate, Yes:Generate FCP XML - all else no
-Output resolution - 1920x1080 - full debayer
Output location - 'Output with clip file name to selected folder'
-File Creation Mode: Unique Name
-Options-
-Other, Timecode: Edge <- very important!
10. Render

-In FCP7-
11. While still in the same project, choose File -> Import -> XML. In dialog box that pops up, select the destination (should be good default,)
-Sequence settings Default: Auto, under options, Yes: Reconnect to Media Files
12. A new timeline will be created with the same name but connected to the newly rendered footage.

I tried the suggested workflow above but my clips are still coming out with something else than edited.

Any thoughts on what I should do? Or what I'm doing wrong?

I should include my process to where I got mixed up:

RCX > exported QT Wrapper, FCP 7 XML generated
FCP 7 > Import XML > fine edit with _P files > export xml
RCX > import xml, then my timeline has gaps and handles on my clips are completely off. Not even one clip matches

Any help is much appreciated!!!

please help.
