Favourite Reduser Quotes™™™™™™™™™™™™

"I remember the days I used to juggle two 4GB P2 cards and use OTG USB drives to offload. Man, that was shit."

"Can you point to the example here, on which you conclude and suggest that people "like to hear themselves type" and are lacking grounds ? "

"As this stuff ages, it's gonna be a lot cheaper a year, two years, three years from now. 12K is coming."

"Weapon 8K for $1000/day??? Ridiculous. If that happens within the first year of availability, I will drop all my camera equipment in the deepest part of Lake Michigan (900' deep) and open a taco stand."

"If you are hired to do a studio feature then maybe they rent you an Arri. If you have no budget or are just starting out maybe you buy a GH5 or BM camera. If you are a serious shooter who needs to do lots of different thing in different ways and needs a pro camera that can do everything then you buy a RED. Simple."

Aw man I miss this thread. I got a couple on here. A friendly pro tip, if you hit the quote button on a post, you can copy the whole block of text with quote tags & a link back to the original post, so people can track back for context!

Here's one of my favorites from a few years ago: :posti:

Is it possible to use resolve 9 with this macpro?
Is it possible to use only one katt?

Regarding Mark Toia's "Why Red?" video

...

But seriously, someone should hire this guy to make commercials or something.

"It's a big step in imaging, and so much to learn but remember, you have a top level jet fighter in your hands."

"But at the end of the day you simply need to remember one thing:

YOU HAVE ONE OF THE BEST CAMERAS IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW.

You are shooting with practically the same camera that David Fischer, Peter Jackson and Michael Bay are using right now.

That is tremendous power."

Matt, who on Reduser are you quoting?

Just got back from a full day shooting, am too tired to read about the details, I simply ordered one on faith. Specs will change anyway, usually to the better ;)

Five years ago, I lied to four of my professors so I could ditch finals week and go Red Studios Hollywood for REDucation. Later that month, I was slating a microbudget feature and the op dropped out last minute. REDucation helped me operate the Scarlet-X with ease. (Though it helps that the camera is dead simple to operate.)

Two years ago, I was in between jobs, and it took lifting every couch cushion and finding every coin in my car to get $500 together. Immediately spent it on a Raven pre-order. Freaking coins, Jim. No bullshit. I was 22 back then. My friends called me reckless. I called it strategy.

One year ago, I took delivery of Raven #61. My first gig was shooting and editing an Audi A3 spot for a local dealership. When they saw the final product, the finance team called me and my client to confirm the invoice was correct. It was for $250. They were going to send me $2500. That changed things for me.

Today, Raven #61 has paid for herself 9 times over, in just one year.

There are a lot of success stories, but mine never would've happened without you, Jarred, Graeme, and the RED team making that camera.

"Rules for Red that I have learned over the years:

1. Jim is not a scammer
2. Get in line as soon as you can
3. Get the top-of-the-line model
4. Have a good sense of humor
5. Jarred likes big, huge teddy bears delivered to his office (and some good scotch)
6. Don't post pictures of Jim online
7. Things change, usually for the better
8. Patience"
