For those of you who like to bake (fess up) I have a brilliant recipe for glaze frosting to go on your cookies and cupcakes.

First, buy one of those drinkable yogurts, and pick a flavor that goes well with your baked good. Say Apple muffins. So get some apple yogurt - green apple is best - and pour it into a large ceral bowl, then add in about a tablespoon of corn syrup. This will give your frosting a nice shiny glaze.

From there start adding in powdered sugar - this will take maybe 3 or 4 cups (if you need less frosting, halve the yogurt and syrup). There is no exact measurement for this as it depends on the consistency you want. Too thin will run, too thick will tear the muffins when you spread it on - if the consistency is just right, you can dip the muffin top in.

I will tell you, an apple muffin with a confectioners sugar glaze that has that apple yogurt base and flavor is really good eating.

About the advantage of a cinema over home projection:
Couple of things you can't necessarily get at home:

Good acoustics (a valuable thing that is part of the recipe of movie magic IMO; presuming no headphone system) and light treatment of the viewing environment (matte walls; moot with retinal projection)
A sense of scale (something that retinal projection will do I guess). That's unless houses all get special entertainment rooms.

Two big ones:

A communal experience, a social experience. Why do people go to live music when the audio quality is never as good as a recording? It's the human element. Anyone who goes to a repatory cinema to watch a classic movie will know the feeling, like singing along to David Bowie at an exemplary presentation of Labyrinth (admittedly not all movies are sing-along) or throwing spoons at the screen during late night 'The Room' showings. Just the sense of focus when you know the whole audience is sympatico.

A changed environment. Getting out isn't something that will get old. Moving around in meatspace will hold its charm. Especially with the addition of good food nearby/at the cinema.

A focused environment. It's all to easy to be distracted when your viewing system is online. TV is kind of designed for 80 percent focus +- 20 percent, whereas movies are designed to take you by the lapels and not let go until the credits (and even then). Though there is a convergence happening there too.

I think the new brands like Alamo Drafthouse which are not just a cinema chain but a philosophy, are the way forward. A cinema chain should become like the ultimate friend's living room to go over and watch a movie.

Getting the lovely Aaton handle to work with the Epic.
I was able to fit the required electronic and battery to make mine a working EPIC start-stop...

Any modern camera is capable of delivering great results when used by talented people. If your camera is not giving you the results you desire, it's likely not your cameras fault, but yours! So rather than wasting time posting this hogwash, maybe your time would be better spent learning how to improve your skills. What do you say we get back to posts which are truly helpful to the Reduser community?

All the Best!

If there is one thing that a veteran shooter knows, is the simple truth that an item will break right when it is needed and at a time when replacement is impossible. Cannot even begin to count the times we have had the discussion of how many items are necessary for a successful shoot. But the answer that is universally true, bring two of everything, at least two.

There has never been a piece of equipment made by man that has not failed at some point. So why is this basic lesson of life so ignored? Always bring spares, always bring backups. With a RED it can get pretty expensive to do so, but doing without is folly, even with the tank that is RED. Cables break or develop hidden shorts. It doesn't matter that it's a $200.00 cable, it's still broken and you're in Timbuktu. Don't blame the equipment, blame yourself for being unprepared. That's what your client will do as he fumes while you fumble for a solution.

ALL equipment fails. Wasn't Apollo 13 enough of an example? The greatest minds on the planet had quadruple systems and they still failed, almost killing the three astronauts. But we learned from those mistakes, right? Hello, Space Shuttle. It doesn't matter how smart the engineers, or how well built an item is, things break. Bring a spare. If you don't, the only person to blame is the guy in the mirror.
...
And bring two mirrors too.
