Hi Everyone:

I have to deliver something in standard NTSC DV (720 x 480). What's the fastest and simplest workflow assuming I have 4K or 2K 16x9 R3D files and I want to use RedCine to color adjust?

Please advise,

hi shooter,

what is your delivering medium? tape?

i shot something for standard def pal a couple of month ago, we just took the quicktime proxys and batch converted them with compressor in quicktime dv files.

after importing into avid we decided to keep these files for delivery.

regards,
martin

Medium is Mini DV tape of all things. :)

I can't use the quicktime proxies because I need to apply a .rcc color setting in RedCine first.

Edit 2K .R3D native in FCP with the current plug in, then apply CC at the end either via Color or REDCine via Crimson Workflow then export out to NTSC. Not exactly simple but it's asking a lot for things to be *simple* with this setup. :)

Process everything REDCINE 1/4res high res (the draft setting in the processing tab, don't forget to set the display to 1/4res high for best performance), 720x480 project, linear scaling (or Mitchell or gauss if you get bad aliasing) and output to QT Uncompressed or Prores (don't forget to set the pixel aspect ratio to .9 in the project settings). It's near realtime on my system. I just did a project going to SD like this it was awesome. Processed all the days footage overnight each day.
