Hi,

What is the very fastest card for Apple Color ?

I have a Mac Pro 3.1 and looking to buy a new model ( Nehalem) this summer.

Will the card fit in the new Mac Pro ?

Thanks

Antoine

Hi Antoine, how are things? I think the card to get for now is the ATI Radeon 4870, although we'll only really know how well it works with the new 10.5.7 update (which has the required drivers).
Cheers

Hey Jean!

Great... thanks!

Going to Montreal next neek, i'll call you if you have time for a coffee.

I'll take a look at that card for sure.

Hi Antoine

I read somewhere that Apple may release their new Final Cut Suite to work with the new nVidia Quadro FX 5800 card. I also see nVidia created the Quadro CX card to work with Adobe CS4. Throw in a nVidia Telsa card and hopefully you never see the blue spinning wheel of death again.
I have the ATI 3870x2 and it rocks with After Effects / Premiere CS4 and r3d files. I can only imagine it getting better with a RED Rocket card too.
Hope this helps cause now I'm confused on what to buy next...

Hi Derek,

Yeah....exactly...

When does the RED Rocket is supposed to be available ?

Do you think you can find the link to the info? So far those cards from nVidia only work on Windows. And the Quadro FX 4800 was only just released for Mac. I'm really hoping that when the 5800 comes out for Mac, it will have a full-size DisplayPort output like the PC version does.
