  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've just encountered this problem on Release Build 20. The fans go silent when i press the record button. However, about a minute into the take, they pick up speed and become quite loud. Also encountered the Sata error one time.

I've already filed a support ticket. Just curious if anyone else has the fan problem?

I didn't have the fan problem but then again i was only recording for about 30 seconds before i got the sata error.

Did you check the fan settings? If it's set to AUTO, it will probably come on if it feels it's getting too hot.

You need to choose SILENT if you want to be absolutely sure.

They may reset when updating so don't assume they stayed as you last had them set.

It was first set on Auto. Then after the fans came on, i switched it to silent for the following takes. In fact, i've tried every fan setting and it still comes on 1 min into the take.

That doesn't sound right at all... Have you lodged a support ticket? You need Red to get involved with this.

This happened to me today on a feature Im working on. I noticed that when the fan went into HOT mode (though the setting was set to silent) the amount of space left on the media AND the power remaining stopped updating during the take and after. The clip played back fine in camera, but the only way to solve the issue was to reboot. This was on a brand-new body, BTW.

Its only happened once over 3 weeks of continuous shooting, so may be a blip. We are running 20.1.3.

Yes, I filed the support ticket before i posted here.

I didn't reboot the cam. But i also noticed the media didn't update and stayed at 100% the whole time.

Have not heard of this issue before, going to have the tech support fellas try to replicate.
