Fan on Epic-M

Hello everyone,
We have an Epic-M and we love it, but the fan is too noisy when we shoot.
Even with the latest firmware (3.0.0), it doesn't want to turn at 25%, but at 35% minimum.
So we can hear the fan blowing relatively slowly (35%), plus a zzzzzzzz-sound coming from the fan too... Not nice for the sound-team !
Does someone have ever met this kind of problem ?

seriously, the z-z-z-z thing sounds odd, so maybe there is some debris? work a shot of compressed air thru the top vent??
AFAIK 35% was the minimum recording fan speed recommended.

My M has the same buzz as do other Ms I have tried. The buzz is not present on my X. Hopefully the M upgrade makes it more like an X, including the silent boot.

There is a fan upgrade for some Ms. The camera will tell you if there is.

But yes, the EPIC can sound like a tiny tiny hairdryer sometimes! I kind of wish they designed the heatpipe system with a bigger fan that could spin slower and be quieter... it would be worth the camera being just a touch bigger if it was half as loud.

Or... with the supposed heatsink upgrade (new heatsink design - same heat removal ability, but lighter) if there was an option to have a better heatsink (and keep it the same weight it is now)

Or a third party option... just floating the concept for a Brook Willard EPIC-Intercooler(tm) :yesnod:

I do have the same issue with my epic M, the London guys wanted me to send it in for a checkup, but i was to busy shooting.
I was wondering, because it really seems a bit to noisy and hummy...
Still shooting with it the way it is.
I will maybe send it in if i have a few weeks time.

The really nice guys from Red England had sent us quickly a new fan and we replaced it. But the noise is still the same... Too bad.
So we'll wait to send it back for a checkup.

anyone know of when our M's are due for updates? i think heat sink and an audio board and few other items??
