Going through my menu settings and got to the fan settings. I set it to quiet and the camera fan went turbo. Set it back to auto and it calmed down. Variable mode was ok too, but when I set to quiet or silent it's the same speed as hot. Anyone else had this problem? It's probably something I should have fixed, but I don't want to sent the camera all the way back stateside now that she's with me.

Note: After I hit the record button for a test run, the fan went quiet. So I'm assuming that the mode selection is for when in REC mode, no when it's in standby. I guess standby is always loud.

That's a relief.

Sure. If it doesn't went turbo on standby to go slient during Rec. Your camera will explode within 3 takes.

What firmware are you on? I am not aware of a "quiet" or "loud" setting; only percentage levels.
