  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Failed To Lock Image Buffer.

Same problem here.
Build 15 v 2.2.5
Footage shot at 113fps, shutter 173 degrees - onto a card.
Our assumption was that the card was not handling the high frame rate. We haven't run into the problem when recording on a drive yet.
Frames showed green in the quicktime proxies - all versions, and showed blue with the error message in RedCine.
In Red Alert not visible at all...

Did you shoot 4K 2:1?

I am getting this as well. But what is wierd is its never the same in and out points that will say failed to load image buffer.

We're getting the same thing on our camera. We are using build 15, 24fps, 4k 16:9, shutter 40.

Is there still no word from RED? Build 15 has been out for a while... has this been a problem all this time?

I'm looking back at build 13 footage from a commercial, and I still get it. I don't think it has to do with the camera builds because on build 15 I still get it.

i had this problema a couple of times, we are shooting 4k 2:1 at 24fps shooting a long movie in PAnama and I got realy scare the first time, but after a fast check I founded out that it was just some software problem.
So is like when the Lcd stars flicking or the playback gets stock and you have to reset or when it just doesn´t want to play.
The Red camera is I a great tool and it allows you to get some high quality pictures for a great price, but i wouldn´t use it for a lot of proyects.
The noise level is just to cloose in the shadows so is forcing to use much more light than what you will be using with 35 mm, in open shoots it might become a problem.
I hope it gets better and better, because I like the texture a great Job by Graeme and the guys. But they´re things that need to be solved in the red one or the epic in orther to stay in the market.

lets wait for 16...
use redalert instead....much more stable...
RA is designed by graeme....
lets wait for the sdk release...
i think then we will have imediatly more stable solutions...

Alright.... we just lost nearly HALF of a full days shooting to this problem. 4K, 24p, 16x9, to Reddrive. The problem footage fails to load in Redcine, Scratch and Iridas. It looks to be corrupt. No sign of any problems during production.

Can we PLEASE get a comment from Red? Many of us are IN production and would like an official comment.

Edit: Can this material can be recovered?

I read somewhere that the footage can be recovered, so there is still hope. Have you tried opening the drive with REDALERT!
