Hey everyone,

I had the opportunity to test out the new F-STOP Bartech Wireless Digital Receiver (From PLC Electronics) on my EPIC-M this morning. It's pretty awesome.

I love the form factor of the F-Stop MDR compared to the old Bartech MDR (or any other MDR for that matter). It's less than half the size and a lot lighter than the old Bartech MDR. It's also Digital so there is literally
zero delay between the handset and the receiver. Extremely responsive as you can see in the video.

Remember the old days of manually calibrating/striping each time you changed a lens with the old analog Bartech? Well, those days are gone! This auto-calibrates right away as soon
as you power it, just like the highend FI+Z units (i.e Scorpio, Preston, C-motion). Love that, saves time.

P.S> This video was shot on an iPhone4 by the way, and obviously just used onboard 'audio'.

how are you powering the motor and fstop Receiver? D-tap?

Heden M26VE Digital Motor is powered by F-stop, and F-stop (in this particular case) was powered off of D-tap. You can however obviously have a custom cable made to have it power from lemo, fischer, etc...

Nice Norm. That's the same kit I have been using for a while. It works great, is small, energy efficient, and quiet. Love it. Use on almost everything narative and anytime I'm handheld or steadicam with an AC.

Norm,

Are you attaching the F-Stop receiver to the swat rail somehow? Is yes, how are you doing it.

Is there a better solution to Velcro?

Where did the video go?

I have had the regular Bartech and after that a Preston MDR1. When the BDR (Bartech Digital Receiver) came out, I sold my Preston and got the Bartech and never looked back. The simplicity and elegance of the system won me back. With the Heden motor is super fast both in calibration as in action, and very silent as well. Will work with Preston motors too.
And the cherry on this is that you won't find better customer service anywhere! Jim is a class act!
The cool thing is that you power the hand unit from a 9V battery you steal from the sound guy, and it will last for a loooong time...

Wow, I hadn't heard about this yet. Seems awesome!

Heden and Betz motors are fantastic. I don't know the bartech system but it should be compatible with Betz if it works with Heden motors.
