Neat little program: http://stereopsis.com/flux/

It corrects your monitor to a custom color temperature at night, which they claim makes you sleep better because you aren't looking at a 5600K display in the middle of the night.

Obviously, turn it off when color correcting :cheers2:

I've been using it for problably a month now, and It certainly does help. It just helps your eyes relax at night. It's obvious for a bit but after a while you just don't even notice it. After using it for a long night you can turn it off and realize just how much it's helping--you'll get blinded pretty darn quick.

This is a cool program but I am having some difficulty with it on Mac.

1. I can't change the settings anywhere

2. I can't delete it

3. I can't turn it off

basically, I installed it, entered my setting and hit ok and that was that. I can't open the program, delete it or do anything with it. Help?

UPDATE: Never mind, I figured it out.

Wow interesting. I just installed it. Will be intresting to se if this make a differens.

I don't like it.

Used it a couple nights now, looking at it now. The most subtle color balance change is to choose the "Daylight" setting for evening lights, which is pretty much what I have in my home office. Even after staring at the screen now for over 2 hours, everything is still pinky-yellow and annoying to my eyes.

IMO, I'll just go back to doing what I always do... Turn my screen brightness down 3 notches at night when I dim the lights. Of course, not if I'm doing color-sensitive work. But I also don't tend to do any color or visually sensitive work later at night. When I do, I look at it the next day and hate myself.

I've now been using f.lux for a week. The program has helped me a bit, although initally it did take some getting used to.

But it would be far better if it just allowed us to set a custom color temperature at any given time. None of this day-night cycling and 'location awareness' nonsense.

A plus/minus green slider would be nice too but what can you ask from a consumer-targeted app?
