I need a couple fast external drives for my small MacbookPro DIT station for offload. Need at least 500gb capacity, 7200rpm and FW800.

Price should be reasonable, and must be something I can pick up locally in the East Bay (Fry's, etc).

Any guidance is very appreciated.

THANKS! :)

That's what I was eyeing, but wasn't sure if there were a more popular option. If no one else chimes in, that's what I'll be buying today.

Thanks, and see you tomorrow :)

If you have an Expresscard 34 Esata card, you'll like the download speed via Esata over FW800. :)

you'll find that the most popular thing to do these days are bare drives, and enclosures. most cost effective unless you need the raid. esata docks are my favorite thing these days. you're bottle necked at fw 800 no matter what you do right now anyway, whether from CF or red drive, so performance in a raid 0 drive won't help you increase offloading speed, only for use later either for editorial or whatever. and when SSD becomes the standard, macbook pro really isn't going to cut it at all anymore...
