I recently purchased a Laird 2b - 1b connector so that I could power my Epic-X with my Red Charger (Dual Red Brick Charger)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/871421-REG/Laird_Telemedia_RD1_PWR3_10_12V_DC_Power_Cable.html

Just yesterday I was setting up the camera to run from that DC power source but it wouldn't work. At first the red LED on the Epic was showing that the camera recognized a power source but it wouldn't turn on. Then the green light on the charger under the AUX 13.8v 100w went out as though it was no longer supplying any power. Then the red LED on the camera went out as well. I tried it on a different outlet and again the lights were on for a few seconds then shut off.

I swear that when I first received the cable I tested it out in my office and the camera turned on right away. The charger is at least 3 years old...Luckily I wasn't on a shoot where i was relying on that power source!!!

Any ideas?

The Red Charger is only 100W output or less I believe. It was enough to run the original Red One M, but was no longer recommended for MX or DSMC where AC mains power supplies were upgraded to 150W.

It might run a barebones DSMC, but might well fail, or cutout due to over current protection, with any other accessories attached drawing additional current.
