I "must" find a way to extend the battery plate cable, that came with the base production pack, to the camera, because I want the battery mounted on the tripod with lots of cable extension for 360 degree pans, etc, etc.

I have contacted several 3rd party LEMO cable companies and there is just no clear understanding between us (no matter how I word it) as to what I exactly need. And, they charge a fortune just for a short 6" cable. I was just trying to find a short adapter of some kind to allow me to hook up the long power cable, that came with the camera, from the battery holder cable to the camera. It would be female to female or male to male. We still haven't figured that one out yet.

In other words, since there is no way to remove the short power cable from the battery plate, I need to connect the long power cable to the battery plate cable. Then, I can connect the other end of the long cable into the camera.

If you know of something that will work, and NOT cost a bloody fortune, please let me know.

Thanks.

George.....at the RED store you can buy the battery clip version of the battery plate and it has a very long cable.....you can then mount it any way you like to the tripod......i doubt you will find anything more affordable off the shelf.

OTHERWISE....if you don't care about pretty....then open the back of the battery plate and add as much wiring as you need. I did this for a shoot recently where i was in a remote location and needed a super long time lapse....opened up the back of the battery plate took wiring off and took extension cord and soldered it and then connected it to a large 12v marine battery...so very easy to do....just make sure you connect the correct positive/negative wires. Beyond that.....you may have to spend the extra $$ for the clip on version....to get someone to make a special adapter for extending = time and $$$$$$$.

Thanks for the suggestion Johnny.

I'd rather not take good equipment apart unless I have to.

Also, I know about the Red Battery Clip, but I was hoping to find something for a little less than $300.oo. I mean, after all, I already have the long cable that came with the camera, so I just figured that if I had some kind of cable-to-cable adapter, it would accomplish the same thing as the battery clip.

The other thing that seems to be confusing to "everybody" is whether the adapter would be female-to-female or male-to-male LMO cable ends.
