  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Expresscard - esats adapters?

Do Not use Seagate 1.5TB the sectors are too large

Yeah, I use the Rosewills. Like the way they turn on at the front instead of at the back.

About the sector sizes... Are you talking about data chunk sizes? When dealing with something like video footage, wouldn't you want the larger kb sizes? I understand where you would want 8kb or even 64 kb sized chunks for data so as to not have a lot of lost space when writing text data, etc. But (I think I read where the Seagate 1.5 writes 512 kb chunks although I may be confusing chunks of data with something else.

afterthought: Just remembered reading that the 1.5 TB drives are essentially the same as the 1 TB Seagates... only difference being is they added another platter so they are using 4 platters instead of the previous three with the 1 TB drives. I've used the first generation perpendicular drives (500 GBs) and they've worked great so far. I see no reason to shy away from the 1.5 TB models.

I purchased the Dynex (the Best Buy brand, actually) and the thing was cheap ($59) and worked immediately...finding the driver was a bit tough, but if you look in the customer reviews in Best Buy's web site, a fellow who reviewed the product put a link in his review to the best current driver.
