  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Exposing for night scene.

I was pleased with my scarlet in low light lit by city lights and cars - more than the word of mouth would have led me to believe regarding the MX sensor in low light. I was shooting with a sigma 30mm at 1.8. I believe I processed the .r3ds at around 1000ISO. Also just holding the camera through a window(sorry just was a random test night i got the lens :tongue_smilie:. I used neat video - I don't see why you wouldn't denoise anything that could benefit. I was always under the workflow of these files are raw - i'm going to do everything in my power to process them.

Joe, I liked that test. Did you use neat video on all shots? The fact that its sharp and not 100 pristine clean is what makes it interesting. I have never used neat video, wondering how much was the original noise levels and how aggressively you used the cleaning tool.. also you are shooting through the windshield, so that makes it difficult to see the results.

Good test..

P.S: The parking structure in the 2nd shot, is that the one in Burbank AMC?

grade in resolve, then I used neat video on each shot in premiere, but I would manually sample noise from different areas of the frames in the shots. I believe that I stayed around the original 55-60% noise reduction defaults. Post sharpening with simple unsharp mask. I wanted to borrow a friend's car mount but couldn't at the time :P

I just laughed to myself though, since I hear so much talk about MX is unusable in low light, or night time without bringing a grip truck of lights but I found out they were wrong just by sitting in a car pointing out a dirty winshield

was actually all orlando FL! :)
