  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A bit of an unusual one, but it pertains to developing new a compression recording codec and most of the people who would know where to go would be here.

I am to start work on my third world computing platform, and during the next 6 months I will have to start retraining myself. As part of this I would like to work on one of my compression ideas as a recording codec as a target.

I need to find accurate bit by bit file structure descriptions of the simplest uncompressed formats to save sample files to. One 4:4:4/RGB one Bayer. Due to chronic health issues I am keeping ahead of, I need a simple breakdown. A very simple description link, an intermediatory description and a advanced version link.

I must say I would like mainly expert device who know exactly and where to find it.

I doubt I will get to redray levels with this one, as it is mainly uncompressed, and I do not have the funding to do my advanced codec, but maybe I can give good lossless ones a run for their money. The target hardware platform is mediocre, but I can get an advanced chip made for recording 4k+ streams off a generic design (the chip is general purpose and available to manufacturers) that the platform is aimed at.

Thanks

Wayne.

I would go check out the Doom9 fourms. There are a few guys in the open source community that work on x264 and can tell you a think or two about video compression.

Also unless you can get better than 5:1 I think x264 lossless will be a better lossless compression scheme.

Thanks, there are people around here that can answer in seconds what might take 20 hours research to find that accurate of an answer.

So, unless this is moved to off topic I might have to go to doom 9 or spend the time.
