Hi

I am curious about this release, but cannot install it immediately, because our cameras arebusy shooting...

Any comments on this release highly appreachiated.

Especialy curious about:
TC sync stabilitiy
Embedded audio over SDI to external devices
Integration with KiProMini

Any stability and performance comments.

Cheers

Gunleik

Sorry I don't have answers for your specifics Gunleik, but I'm enjoying 1.7.9 a lot for various reasons:

HDMI out working - hurrah! Cheap and simple wired and wireless monitoring now works!
Histogram on the Redmote - excellent tool
Edge mode is a far better focus assist in my opinion, especially where monitoring conditions are difficult
Redcode improvement - noticeable differences for some tough scenarios

Oddments:

Assignable "other sound" in the keys menu (as well as shutter sound) - I now have a cash register sound effect assigned to a side SSD button for no good reason. Don't think that one will make it to the shoot, but its making me laugh here at the office. :D
Lots of UI improvements and fuller menus to explore.

And just spotted total hours of operation in the sys info - was that there before?

Hi John,

Can you let us know the improvement in REDCODE...does it effect the image quality ???

Thanks

Harcharan

Looking good so far, though I've not shot anything with it yet.

HDMI is active and both HDMI and HD-SDI can now choose resolution between 720p and 1080p, which is helpful for lots of older equipment and more monitoring options:

RedBrick percentage now shows up properly, where before it wasn't registering at all:

All in all, a good update. LCD touchscreen is indeed more responsive. Lots of other features added too.

HTH!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

I really like the improved UI. It is more simple and logical with some of the menus.

The only bug I have seen is that Panasonic monitors don't like it's version of 720p, but 1080 is fine. Its only a bummer for 3d with the Panasonic 910. Red knows about it and is working on it.

I am in a 24fps country so I have not tested 25fps with dual system.

Cheers,
Rich

Thank You John for the confirmation, I have not been able to run the beta FW myself.

It seem that my impossible request is now a reality.

When I suggested that idea, Jim said it was impossible right here on this forum.

Even as impossible as it seem, Jim does listen.

Jim, you are the best.

Oh yeah. Go RED.

Thank You Jim

Hey Jim,

Can we have the histogram meter on the Wireless Red Remote?

Pretty Please?

Not possible... sorry.

Jim

I upgraded and for some reason the tint is defaulting to +50 (green) there is no menus to control that on the camera. I tried making a LUT from redCine... dodnt work... So all the monitors are green
any ideas or have the same problem?
Them manual says when i select color temp there is also an option for tint.
NOPE... it only gives me the option in a "slider" of the color temp not tint.

What am i doing wrong?

Hi Paul

What's the model of Panasonic monitor you've got hooked up to the Epic there?
Is that able to display both 720p and 1080p?

Thanks
Eric
