  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Experience with new audio board?

Audio (Power issue)

Audio (Power issue)

Working on a feature now and we were doing an audio test for the REDONE. The power turned off and I am not sure why, when we tried to restart the camera the main monitor on the body would just flash and turn off.

The techs say that this might have been caused by the audio and the new box we put on the red to convert the mini-bnc to bnc.

Anyone have this problem before or any solutions? We are actually starting the production today and any replies as fast as possible would be appreciated.

Try pulling the mini-BNC to BNC adaptor off, as that will eliminate one variable.

I tested new audio board with Sennheiser MKH 418.
Well as for 24 bit 48kHz not bad.
One thing I need to ask other new audio board users.

When working with the 48V phantom power do you still hear a very very slight hiss and bit less hiss without phantom power?
It is noticeable only in completely quiet condition with the mike few yards away from the camera. If you try it with mike close to the camera the camera fan will be louder than hiss. It is noticeable and bit of problem in round table interviews, nothing that I can’t cancel out in post by subtracting two channels but bit annoying.

Maybe it is just build in RED camera preamp?
Any experience with the new audio board info greatly appreciated.

Andrew
