Expander Module Question - blocked ports

We have established that some batteries won't fit on the Base I/O V-lock expander module because they are too wide and will block the ports on the side.

As an alternative, I've thought about getting the Base I/O expander (without v-lock) and then getting a third party v-mount plate that sticks out a little farther away from the ports on the expander so they are not blocked. Something like this Cable-less V mount from WC

This would be perfect, BUT (there's always a but) the only thing that kills me here is that the base i/o expander does not have a USB slot and the v-lock expander does. I do alot of gimbal work and i need that usb power for an hd transmitter. Does anybody know a way to remedy this? Maybe a third party battery plate/module or battery with a usb slot? Or a third party expander to replace the base i/o and has usb? I suppose that when I'm on the gimbal i could use the usb power slot on my ronin, but I would prefer to have a slot on the camera so when I take the camera off of the gimbal I can still get a transmitted signal when turning the Ronin off.
