  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EX1 vs. RED

Checked Sony's site on this. If you get Sony's brochure on the EX1 at http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/markets/10014/docs/PMW-EX1brochurefinal3-08.pdf and go to page 11, there is a chart on the upper right of the page that discusses HD-SDI output. It has an asterisk to a footnote at the bottom of the chart that says, "1080/23.98P recordings are output as 1080/59.94i signals via 2-3 pull-down conversion."

Sycophant: Got it. Must be progressive mode feed over 1080i.

So the answer is that it does do 1080p out the HD-SDI port, although via 1080i.

Thanks for the clarification.

So I assume from this that SDI is in fact 1080p

we shot with that cam some days ago and now I can say that it is definitely no 1080p. it´s a fake p. find enclosed the picture of a moving person in the background - he becomes a ghost. so you can see that it is 1080i....

I believe the output is always 1080i, isn't it? The progressive footage is embedded in a 1080i data stream. If you want 1080/24p, you'll have to strip out the pulldown.
