Any of you have any experience with this product in an Avid group environment as far as project and bin sharing goes? I am setting up an Avid project and I want to make sure I configure it properly. Supposedly all my Evo partitions are configured correctly, but is it really this simple? Just put the project, bins, renders on the NAS and the media on the SAN?

The rep got me 99 percent of the way done, but I need to set up camera tomorrow, create the test project, do a live capture from red through bnc to the attached avid and verify its working on all five bays for Monday.

We typically do this tethered workflow, so the only new part is implementing this new array and configuring it for project sharing. I have never used, nor set up project sharing before for an Avid so I was looking for advice if someone can help, thanks so much!!

So for those of you following my plight here or on the Avid forum I have made some progress...

We have the Avid certified NIC now, we have our cards in the specified slots and windows is set up to optimize Avid. We still can't make the thing roll to Sans without crashing, but it can roll to Nas fine.

Sadly rolling to Nas isn't good enough for our needs. I tried swapping the capture card into another system there, same problem. I am going to completely reinstall the OS, Avid, Evo Mount Utility, SanMP, and the blackmagic decklink sdi driver on this system and hope for the best. If that can't fix the issue we might need to get another Unity emulating array.

Part of our goal here is the limit editors abilities to only be able to read media. Our second goal is to share projects and bins for a faster more concise workflow between edit stations, and to avoid indexing constantly like with our current non Unity shared network mapped SMB solution.

When I started this process I sure didn't know half the stuff I know now, and I am sure soon I'll have this thing up and running successfully to San in a shared environment....even if it has to be done on another product.

We are also interested in getting an LTO solution set up... I am really enjoying getting more familiar with how to arrange this stuff for a Avid group environment... I might even go take that avid support rep class one day...
