I see a new LCD but will there be a new EVF? I'm guessing NO. But if yes will we have to buy the 200 dollar adapter
to use it?

I really like the new SmallHD Sidefinder I think is a clever idea at a great price. in a way similar to the functionality of the Amira EVF.

Would be great if RED comes with something similar.

IN addition to the SideFinder, a 7" version of the Grid Viewfinder would be nice. http://www.gridaccessories.com/products/grid-5-0-viewfinder/
hey stacey thanks to you we finished the new GRID viewfinder for the 7"monitor.
thanks for your help! ill send your viewfinder for 7" monitor today!
it also goes with a hood that attaches to the same magnetic frame.

Great to see the new development. I have the grid 5". I would love to know the size of the 7". Have you changed the design to avoid sun burn?

Thanks

Pat

Hey guys,
yes we changed the lens magnification, so it takes longer to burn the lcd and also there is a button that closes the viewfinder.
best,

Nicholas

is there a chance you can make a mount for the smallhd 502 monitor? i love the monitor but the sidefinder i found to be not up to par.

I don't use the EVF anymore. Outdated and too small IMO. Other thoughts?

When will reds new VF be released? No teases?

I'm exactly opposite. I need to be able to see what is around me when I have the camera on my shoulder and the EVF image is so small, it's hard to be sure of focus.

I can see how looking through the viewfinder fine tunes your focus to the subject. Sold my EVF and went with a high bright 7" screen for work outside and inside.

I would never want to use anything else than a viewfinder... Seeing the world isolated through the viewfinder is an important part of cinematography in my view.

Hi Nicholas,

Just wanted to let you know that it arrived today. Simple pic attached. The hood was an unexpected, and appreciated, bonus. Thank you! I am going to try and do YouTube video review in the next week. Until then, happy to answer any questions people might have.

It would be nice, in a future revision, if the switch could be spring loaded. Meaning it is always closed unless you are holding the switch open.

I was a big fan of the Grid 5.0, which I had to buy used at the time. The 5.0 was my favorite 3rd party accessory. I was carful to always put the eye piece in when not in use.

I was wondering if the grid 7" isn't too big for handheld and if the left side of the field of view (as I'm shooting with the right eye) isn't too covered by its size. What is the size of the Grid 7"?
Can you make a picture of the 5" VS the 7" (side by side from top)?

I prefer concentrating my focus with EVF. I can see what's going on around me through the periferal vision of my left eye. Besides - I'd have wear reading glasses if I only had the LCD...
