  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

try changing the EVF refresh rate from "synced" to ? i think it's called "fixed" ( you only have 2 choices - so change it from where it is currently to the other choice) ...

Exactly so. I assume you are on Build 15. if so the default EVF setting is SYNCED which means the EVF is refreshing at 48 Hz (2 x 24 fps) - that's quite "filmic" and if your prefer a "video" display set the EVF refresh to FIXED. In that setting its displaying at 60 Hz (3:2 pulldown on 24 fps)

The EVF is a high speed sequential RGB display, so yes if you blink in rapid succession or move your eye rapidly across the display, you may see an apparent color tint / rainbow effect. That is normal, not a defective or deficient condition.
 
What is going on for us shooting at 25 fps?

I'm about to make payment for my EVF, and this thread has got me a little worried, I must confess.

i used a friend's EVF for the very first time yesterday during a shot at 25fps. It has an impressive very high resolution image but also a very noticable rainbow effect. If you are one of those people (like me) who are having prolems with DLP projectors then be adviced.

Maybe a faster refresh rate would minimize the problem but i have no idea if it's possible to do it through a new firmware

I just want my EVF... That's my complaint.

Oh yeah, that Finner guy got his camera nearly a month after me, but he already has his EVF. That ain't right... His number must have come up about 10 minutes before RED changed their back-order policy. :tongue:
 
When you start to advertise red on the crotch of a pair of speedo's you will get an EVF faster to Jeff.

Just got our EVF's today and they have a fantastic image however I am questioning the dial on the side both of ours seem to be loose and was curious if everyones is like that or we just happen to get lucky twice.
 
Since it is both a dial and a button at the same time, we did not want that button to ever stick so there is enough tolerance in the spacing to ensure that does not happen.

I am not talking about the RGB "flutter" when you dart your eyes around.

This is entirely different.

I've tried swapping cables. No luck.

Build 15.

Don't want to ship her back after waiting this long :-(

we are in the middle of the shooting, and EVF is not used at all, partly due to this artifact ...

Yes. This has been resolved. (This was our post you referred to.)
We sent it off to Red, and was returned in a short amount of time. (Thanks Red).
It's looked great ever since.
 
Anyone experiencing red and blue noise?

Not consistent across the entire screen but in the darker areas of the EVF image - this is not subtle.
 
i too am getting this problem. Just got my evf friday...and i'm on build 16. The flicker to me seems to be gamma like...going lighter and darker...along with the slight color change. It's pretty annoying. What was the verdict on this one? Send it back to RED?
