Hi-

This may have already been discussed, but I just got to try out the EVF (which is great by the way) The only thing that disturbed me was the "rainbow" multi-colored strobing effect. It's just like when I look at certain projectors and I see all of the colors separated and flashing (like all red for a frame and all green ect...)

I read about this effect on projectors and discovered that only a small percentage of people actually see it.

So my question is:

Does anyone else notice this effect with the Red EVF or is it just me?

Thanks,

-Hunter

ehehehehe.. ehehehehe.. what exactly does it mean?.. you paid an EVF and have you received an unsolicited dlp projector?.. :) :)

Yum . . . didn't you just answer your own question?!?

Yes a small percent of people do see it. I have a friend who cannot use the EVF because it bugs him so bad. I on the other hand see it but don't find it distracting.

Yes this is a known characteristic of the RED EVF. Search the board and you will see numerous discussions.

Have you tried checking the 'open gate' setting?

I just picked up something at a rental house in town and saw they had the evf on their red (which is where I peeped inside of it), I didnt get to play with the settings. I will try that next time I play with one.

On single chip DLP projectors, they call it the 'Rainbow effect' and it's caused by the spinning prism. I'm so sensitive to it I can walk into a home theater sales floor and point to every single DLP in the room. I can't stand to watch movies on DLP, because every time I move my eyes, I feel like I'm having a bad acid trip or something. Some people joke that I can see the rainbows through the back of my head. And yes, the EVF looks exactly the same to me, to the point of me actually preferring the LCD unless I'm in a really bright environment.

In the same boat. We just have to learn to live with it.

It seems to depend on where my eye is placed in the EVF. At times I can see it, other times I can't. In other words, depending on how tight my eye is in the eyecup, I see different results. When I don't see it, the EVF is really great.
